The Spilltex® scoop utilises a novel oleophobic and superhydrophobic filtering material that combines natural cotton fabric modified with a specialised microgel coating derived from polysaccharides.

The scoop is designed for rapid and efficient manual recovery of oil products from water surfaces. Its portable design features a telescopic handle and a lightweight, durable, foldable frame.

The frame supports Spilltex® membrane fixed on it, which allows water to pass through while retaining oil contaminants (e.g. diesel, petrol, crude oil).

Application

Effective for small-scale oil spills, environmental clean-ups, clean-ups on boats, refuelling docs, emergency response situations and training. Valuable addition to oil spill and emergency kits, as well as for military (Navy) and NGOs. The product can be used to remove oil films from water reservoirs.

Key features

Optimised depth and dimensions for skimming thin oil layers.
Residual oil in water levels: down to 5 ppm.
Operation up to 50 times faster than conventional sorbents.
Simple membrane replacement.
Environmentally friendly membrane: 100% biodegradable.
Broad operational range: Initial hydrocarbon concentration 10-5000mg/l, temperatures 0 to +85°C, pH: 2-8.
Enables oil recovery for potential reuse.

How to use

Membrane Activation: Immerse the Spilltex® membrane in water for 5-15 min prior to use. This step is crucial for the formation of a hydrophilic gel layer, enhancing oil/water separation.
